"The Two Wolves"

A friend posted this to a message board I frequent. I know, I know, it's just another "motivational" little story people are probably urged to "forward to everyone on your mailing list" so something nice will happen to them in the end of the day.

Yet, it's true... Just to quote INXS in two songs: "the devil inside, the devil inside, every single one of us the devil inside" and "we all have wings, but some of us just don't know why", and in the end, whichever side we choose to feed and cherish, that side will win.
(In the given quote "devil" is used as "devil not in a good way" for the purpose of this little exercise).

An old Cherokee Indian was speaking to his grandson:

"A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. This same fight is going on inside you, and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a long minute, and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."
